In order to combat “racist” costumes, STARS initiated a campaign, funded by the Dean o f Students in order to foster conversation and to bring awareness to racist, discriminatory, stereotypical, and prejudiced Halloween costumes. ![]() Situated in Athens, Ohio, OU has a history of hosting block parties for Halloween. Students Teaching against Racism in Society (STARS) attracted both national and inter-national headlines in October 2011 with their anti-racism campaign entitled “We’re a culture, not a costume.” At the time of the campaign, STARS was composed of ten undergraduate student members at Ohio University (OU). It then goes in to talk about how we need to focus more on what we make of a situation or investment rather than setting measurable expectations for the output. " Good to Great " states that in the business world input is typically seen as investing and getting a return on that investment as the output. " This section of the book focuses on the differences between inputs and outputs within an organization and how we view and prioritize the two against each other. The first point addressed in the book is that of " Defining " Great " – Calibrating success without Business Metrics. To structure my report, I will be analyzing and comparing this book to our reality by sectioning the five question it addresses. I also think that we could gain a lot by striving to be better than we are, hence good to great. Part of the reason that I chose this is because I think that the social sectors aspect is easy to tie into the field of fire rescue and emergency management simply because we are a community service. ![]() For my book report, I chose to do a monograph to the book " Good to Great " written by Jim Collins.
